Most recently, poet Jeffery Berg included my poem “Unless” in his poem-a-day series for National Poetry Month 2014. My poems have also appeared in 1913 and Kenning Journal, and they are regularly featured in the NYC-based poetry-performance collaboration Emotive Fruition.
Now here’s one just for you, because the cruellest month is a timeless phenomenon:
Curbside, Murder Ave and Vanderbilt, April 2010
Summer’s coming. The ads
for True Blood say REHYDRATE. Must be
ten years ago now Mos Def had
himself a darkly worded something to say on the subject, and
I get the feeling there’s more to
the bus passing by than
nonarrival at my stop.
Hot cross bun, anyone? I’ve got
kisses, too, in my pocket,
palms, and dandelion seeds, but
no one’s buying.
Get ready to roll, kids. Next
heat’s slouching our way.
